Guide to recruiting rural and related Australian Apprentices

If you are not using a group training organisation or similar employment agency to identify and supply you with an appropriate apprentice, you will need to go through the process of hiring your apprentice by following the steps outlined in this section.

Even if you do use employment agencies like group training companies, you should still define the work you wish to be done, and under what conditions (hours, wage levels etc) you expect the work to be performed.

This will make the job of finding the right apprentice easier and ensure that the apprentice supplied fits with your expectations.

It can also help you to understand your business more clearly by really analysing what work you need done, and how this fits with work that is currently being done.

It is a good idea to have job descriptions for all of your employees that are reviewed, from time to time, to see whether their work is changing, and help with your business planning.
