Do you like working with animals and science? Would you enjoy working with veterinary and scientific professionals on animal research, breeding and scientific programs? If so then work as an animal technician might be for you.
Animal technicians assist veterinary scientists and students to care for and monitor animals used for research, breeding and scientific purposes (they also work with medical, pharmacy, agricultural and general scientists).
Their work may include animal care and monitoring, preparation of food and water, carrying out of experiments on animals, monitoring and maintenance of ethics and codes of practice, and the implementation of breeding programs. Animal technicians sometimes work in laboratories, in the field and at zoos.
